Aerospace Research Center (ARC)

The Aerospace Research Center (ARC) focuses The Ohio State University’s aerospace activities, to optimize and connect core strengths and to address current and future air transportation challenges. Adopting an industry model, the center unites many aerospace disciplines, including power and propulsion, aerodynamics, material science, control and manufacturing, all under one virtual roof.

Center for Aviation Studies (CAS)

The Center for Aviation Studies is dedicated to advancing the aviation industry. The partnerships that the CAS has established within the aviation industry enable students to network with aviation professionals, participate in internship programs, and conduct research with and for leading aviation companies. These partnerships are invaluable resources for developing future careers in the industry.

Center for Automotive Research (CAR)

The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) is the preeminent research center in sustainable and safe mobility in the United States and an interdisciplinary research center in The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering. CAR is recognized for interdisciplinary emphasis on systems engineering, advanced and unique experimental facilities, collaboration on advanced product development projects with industry, and a balance of government and privately sponsored research.

Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME)

The Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) is the manufacturing port of entry into Ohio State. CDME is The Ohio State University's preeminent leader in innovative applied research for product design, technology commercialization, and manufacturing for industry. CDME's vision is to be the innovation portal for the manufacturing industry to access all of the Ohio State University assets in business, engineering, and applied science to support innovation in product validation, design, commercialization, and manufacturing for Ohio State industry partners and research community

Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis (CEMAS)

The vision of the Center for Electron Microscopy and AnalysiS (CEMAS) is to disrupt the stratification of disciplines in the characterization of materials. With one of the largest concentrations of electron and ion beam analytical microscopy instruments in any North American institution, CEMAS brings together multidisciplinary expertise to drive synergy, amplify characterization capabilities and challenge what is possible in analytical electron microscopy.

ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL)

The ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) is a major center-of-excellence in the Ohio State College of Engineering and one of the largest radio frequency and optics research laboratories in the world. Since 1942, ESL has consistently maintained a national and international preeminence in electromagnetics, influencing radio research like no other institution in the world.

Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust (ICDT)

The Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust (ICDT) fosters collaboration among researchers from multiple academic disciplines to collaboratively develop solutions to complex cybersecurity and digital trust issues. Prepares the next generation of workers, scholars and leaders to develop robust and effective cyber trust solutions. Partners with other educational institutions, government, military and industry to identify emerging cybersecurity issues and find ways to address those needs through research, education and collaboration.

Nuclear Reactor Lab (NRL)

The Nuclear Reactor Lab (NRL) is used for a wide range of nuclear-related research endeavors, including evaluation of material elemental constituents using neutron activation analysis (NAA) and neutron depth profiling (NDP); evaluation of radiation damage to electronic components and other materials, such as optical fibers and optical fiber-based sensors; evaluation of neutron and gamma-ray radiation sensitive detector performance; isotope production; and biomedical experiments. The OSU-NRL staff provides a variety of instructional services ranging from general tours to group laboratory sessions, and facilitates research projects structured to student and faculty interests.

Ohio Manufacturing Institute (OMI)

The mission of the Ohio Manufacturing Institute (OMI) at The Ohio State University College of Engineering is to serve as an action-oriented public policy and advocacy center for manufacturing within the state and nation, reflecting a thoughtful and sustained response to industry-led and vetted issues. OMI works with its industry, university, and government partners to find solutions to manufacturers’ greatest technical and workforce challenges and develops industry-vetted policy recommendations to help the state and nation establish a best-practice competitive ecosystem for small- and mid-sized manufacturing enterprises.

Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter)

The Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter) is an interdisciplinary research center for the virtual simulation and modeling of product performance and manufacturing processes in the College of Engineering.  The SIMCenter, researches and applies computer-aided engineering techniques to the design and manufacturing of advanced product and production concepts and is one of three industry-facing Centers in the Ohio State University College of Engineering tackling the most challenging problems in land transportation.

Spine Research Institute (SRI)

The Spine Research Institute (SRI) is a unique group of multi-disciplinary experts who specialize in the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of low back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).  SRI is discovering novel solutions to one of the world's most significant health challenges.
